Am I the only person that finds the debate concerning the “mosque at ground zero” itself not only ignorant but also offensive? Am I alone in being dumbfounded by the fact that America, which is known for its freedom is having a debate which evolves around religious tolerance because the address involved is near a place where an atrocious act of religious intolerance happened?
Investigating where the money came from to fund it or what other terrible businesses are in the area around it does more in showing that we really did not learn anything from September 11th. Maybe it is because most people have spent the last 9 years focusing on explosions, free fall rates, jet speeds, the melting point of steel, witness reports, and the like and not focusing on the “why” aspect.
When it comes to issues like this, understanding “why” something happened is usually far more valuable than understanding “how” something happened.” —(via ronworkman)
